Internal Competitions

Typically, a competition is held about once a month. See the Programme for the competition dates for the current season.

This page contains a brief summary of the rules for each competition. The ultimate rulebook for competitions is the Club Handbook - please consult it if you are unsure of any details of the rules of a competition - this takes precedence over anything written below.

  • Colour Space: RGB (or Greyscale for monochrome).
  • Colour Profile: sRGB.

Other internal competitions

  • Set Subject Competitions

Up to three set subject competitions are held annually and these are currently all for digital images. Up to 4 images can be entered per member.

An image may only ever be used in one Set Subject competition; it may however also be used twice in constitutionally mandated competitions.

The subjects for the 2015-16 season will be:

    • Reflections
    • Ancient & modern
    • Street
  • Photographer of the Year

Not a judged competition as such; the 'Photographer of the Year' is awarded based on the total points gained for performance in the constitutionally mandated competitions and the set subject competitions over the year. Each image will be judged and given a score out of twenty.

  • Image of the Year

The entries achievinghighest scores in the constitutionally mandated competitions (both classes) and the set subject competitions (both digital images and prints) will go forward to the 'Image of the Year' competition, held at the end of the season.

For the Bamber Trophy and the Monochrome Portfolio competitions, the entrant shall choose one image from the scoring set.
