    Annual Exhibition

    With our Annual Spring Exhibition now an established event in the Swavesey year, this is our opportunity to demonstrate our skills to the public. Participation by all is encouraged and in addition to the prints, there will be a continuous show of projected images and AV shows, while greetings cards (and cakes) will be on sale, with proceeds going to Arthur Rank Hospice.

    And Your Bird Can Sing

    Chris Gommersall is one of the country’s foremost wildlife and bird photographers. He was GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year (2007) and has won six awards in Wildlife Photographer of the Year. The author of books on wildlife and bird photography, he is a former in-house photographer at RSPB and a training partner with Nikon (UK) Ltd. Tonight’s talk is a lavishly illustrated journey through the history and evolution of wild bird photography, featuring images from Chris’s extensive back catalogue.

    Composing An Image and the Art of Monochrome

    Micki Aston MCIoJ CPAGB works as a professional stock photographer and, while specializing in landscape photography, she will happily shoot any subject that she finds interesting. Micki has travelled to many parts of the world, and has an eye for the beautiful and the unusual. She has been widely published in a variety of books and other photographic publications, as well as having had her work regularly exhibited in the Cotswold Monochrome International Salon.

    Outing: Cambridge University Botanic Gardens

    With the college closed for half term, we will take the opportunity to visit the Botanic Gardens in Cambridge. Since its opening in 1846, Cambridge University Botanic Garden has been an inspiration for all visitors. This heritage-listed Garden has been designed for both year-round interest and seasonal inspiration so, whenever you visit, you will find plants to intrigue and enchant – and photograph!

    Chris Upton ARPS last came to Swavesey in April 2014 and gave an excellent talk based on his travel photography. This time his talk will be on composition. Many photographers cite composition as the most difficult aspect of photography to master. Whether you are perplexed and confused about the subject, need to refresh your technique or want a burst of creativity this presentation will help you improve your image creation.
